About My Well Wines
Jan Myers is the winemaker/owner for My Well Wines. Jan is a native of Pennsylvania who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and spent 20 years as a naval aviator before starting his winemaker career. While in the military, Jan had plenty of exposure to wine in his travels around the world including France, Italy, Monaco, Germany, and Australia.
Jan started his wine career at Joullian Vineyards in Carmel Valley under the tutelage of Ridge Watson with added education from weekend courses at UC Davis. While there he learned to make Bordeaux varietals and Burgundian-style Chardonnays and progressed from harvest intern to Assistant Winemaker. Four years later he moved north to work at Keller Estate where he gained knowledge of making Pinot Noir with Michael McNeill. He continued to explore his passion for Pinot and gained additional production experience at Schug Winery in Sonoma.
One of the first wines Jan made was Zinfandel while working in Carmel Valley. The wine was a big hit, and friends still inquire if there are a few bottles laying down somewhere. After gaining more wine-making experience he managed to carve out time to make his own wine again. Beginning with the 2012 harvest, Jan will be making Pinot Noir, influenced by his more recent experience and his wife’s love of this varietal with food.
